Is Epaderm Cream packaging recyclable?

Epaderm cream uses airless pump bottles which work as a vacuum. Airless pump bottles have a number of benefits:

  • Reduced plastic, no need for a straw to draw the product into the pump
  • Dispenses the same amount of product for each pump, to help with dosage and reduce product waste
  • Pumps which let air back into a product, can lead to bacteria getting into the product.

However, with an airless pump, and with most pump bottles in general, there is a need for a metal and / or glass component to work the pump, which sadly are not recyclable. The pump and bottle can be separated, however it is not a simple twist top, due to the need to create a vacuum for the pump. If you are able to remove the pump and bottle, the bottle can be washed and recycled (Please ensure you check with your local council for recycling guidelines), however the pump cannot. We do not recommend that you try excessive force to separate the bottle.

Unfortunately, due to the airless nature of the pump, once the top and bottom are separated, it is unlikely it can be put back together in working order.

We continue to work on enhancing our environmentally friendly packaging solutions across our range.
