How to Use Epaderm Products

On this page you will find videos and information about how to use the Epaderm range of products.

But first, watch our short video which covers the main differences between Epaderm Cream and Epaderm Ointment.

Epaderm Cream

Epaderm Cream is a 2-in-1 emollient & cleanser, suitable for all ages, including babies. Formulated with clinically proven ingredients, Epaderm Cream is non-greasy and easily absorbs into the skin. Watch our how-to-use video!

How to Use

Direct to the Skin

Direct to the Skin

Epaderm Cream can be applied immediately after washing to counteract the loss of essential oils from the skin.

It should be applied generously and frequently – even when the skin has improved. Directions: Apply Epaderm Cream directly on the skin. Gentle massage until fully absorbed.

As a Substitute for Soap

When caring for dry skin conditions, The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends washing with emollients rather than detergents or soaps, as these can increase water loss from the skin.

Using Epaderm Cream as a skin cleanser helps ensure that dry skin can be properly washed, without losing additional moisture. Directions: dispense a small amount onto your hand, lather under warm water and then use as a normal soap.

Epaderm Ointment

Epaderm Ointment is a 3-in-1 emollient suitable for all ages, including babies. Clinically proven to manage dry skin, Epaderm Ointment helps support and restore the skin's natural barrier function. Watch our how-to-use video!

Direct to the Skin

Direct to the Skin

Epaderm Ointment provides a barrier to help soothe the skin. Emollients are not steroids so you can use as much as you need. It should be applied generously and frequently even when the skin has improved. Directions: apply Epaderm Ointment directly on the skin in the direction of hair growth. This will reduce the risk of blocking hair follicles.

As a Substitute for Soap

Using Epaderm as a skin cleaner helps ensure that dry skin can be properly washed without losing additional moisture, or having to deal with the problems that common soap additives might produce. Directions: scoop a small amount from the tub, lather under warm water and then use as a normal soap.

Bath Additive

Bath Additive

Soaking the skin in an emollient for optimum rehydration is another key step of complete emollient therapy. When using Epaderm as a bath additive, care should be taken, as it will make the surface of the bath slippery. Directions: take 4g (about the size of a two pound coin) from the tub. Melt this in a tumbler of hot water, ensuring it has cooled sufficiently before adding to the bath. Do not apply hot water directly to the skin.

Epaderm Junior Cream

Epaderm Cream is a 2-in-1 emollient & cleanser, suitable for all ages, including babies. Formulated with clinically proven ingredients, Epaderm Cream is non-greasy and easily absorbs into the skin. Watch our how-to-use video!

A measure of Epaderm Cream equals 1 x pump (500g) or 3 x pumps (50g, 150g)

It is important to note that there is no limit to how much Epaderm you can use. The below is a guide and will vary based on body size and dryness of skin. We recommend to start with a smaller amount and build up to what is right for you and your skin.

Face, Ears, Neck 1/2 - 1 measure twice a day

Arms 1 - 2 measure twice a day

Back 1 - 2 measure twice a day

Torso 1 - 2 measure twice a day
